Lake-to-Loop, John Muir Wilderness,
California
July 23-28, 2000
Our trip started on Sunday, 23 July 2000 at Florence
Lake. We parked our car at the campground and had lunch before loading
up the commissary stuff. We then rode on a ferry boat across Florence
Lake to the trail and hiked about two miles and set up camp.
The second day, we continued our hike for eight miles and a 2,000
ft gain and camped by Bear Creek in a forested valley. There lot
of mosquitoes to bother us by the streams.
The third day, we again hiked 8 miles to the glimpses of Seven Gables,
Mt. Hilgard, Mt. Senger, and Mt. Hooper. We set up camp with a wonderful
viewing of the great lakes at 10,500 ft.
The following day was a layover day for us to explore the surrounding
areas Lakes. We relaxed all day.
On the fifth day, we crossed Seldon Pass and stopped by at fantastic
Sally Keyes. We then descended to camp at Blayney Meadows and their
hot springs.
On our last day, 28, July 2000 we crossed Lake Edison by ferry boat
to reach our cars.
